Renaissance Garden, Cave Exploration, and Lunch across the Border

Escaping the crowds and marvelling at the natural wonders of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Escape Dubrovnik during the crowded period and cool off by exploring a magical Renaissance Garden of Trsteno, as well as Vjetrenica Cave in Southern Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Your guide will be on hand to give you a bit of history and introduce this wonderful part of the world as you travel to your first destination, a historical botanical garden in village of Trsteno. This garden of a summer residence, once belonging to one of the noble families of Dubrovnik republic, draws crowds every year with its beauty and interesting history. In recent years it gained in popularity as one of the filming locations for HBO’s Game of Thrones series.

Next stop is across the border in Bosnia and Herzegovina (make sure you have your passports with you). Your visit is to Vjetrenica Cave, one of the largest and most fascinating speleological sites, measuring some 7km (not all of it accessible to public) in length with numerous subterranean lakes and water streams. Close to the cave is a family owned restaurant in an old train station building where you will enjoy delicious local specialties before heading back to Dubrovnik.

Get away from the crowds and enjoy scenic roads, breath-taking nature, and a dash of history.
